It's amazing how you can reflect on your years of grade school and see the progress technology has made. First chalkboards then dry erase boards to overheads and now the innovation of smart-boards; technology is constantly advancing. In my class, many of my teachers are using smart-boards and instead of assigning homework through worksheets it's now either online through a program or given to you through myclasses. Instead of buying books students are now being advised to buy eBook online. Also, with classes growing in students, some professors use clickers to take quizzes and mark attendance with quick results and fast grading.
While studying for classes as a way of learning I like to retype my notes into a study guide on Microsoft and often review the practice and quiz problems assigned on the class programs. Also, when in need of a quick answer or double checking information I easily search my questions on the internet. Although technology is extremely helpful in the classroom and education, it does come with some setbacks. A lot of times students have trouble while the internet or their computer malfunctions where they cannot make up the points or are penalized in a way when they could not of prevented. But I am curious to see if having this tool will create negative outcomes. Since the internet is easily used to find information and do work for us student's, I feel we should be able to put in the extra time and learn for ourselves and not allow technology be our excuse for ignorance.
Yes it is very interesting to think back and see how technology has changed and how it will keep changing!
ReplyDeleteI think it is also interesting to think about how much technology has advanced since grade school. I also check my answers by going online and I believe it can create negative outcomes because I can easily find a right answer online instead of looking through a book.
ReplyDeleteTechnology has been improving so fast, but the one setback that I have found to be a problem is taking tests online. When the internet goes down for what ever reason so does your grade haha.
ReplyDeleteWhen I look back at my education, I would like to think they did a good job. These days I am not so sure
